Renjie Zhu, director of manufacturing engineering at Tesla's Austin super factory, announced on Sunday local time that he would leave the company. He was responsible for the start-up and production of Tesla Cybertruck project.

It is unclear whether Zhu Renjie's departure was part of Tesla's recent series of layoffs, or whether he resigned himself. At least seven senior Tesla executives have left in the past month. Zhu Renjie has worked for Tesla for more than five years. According to his profile on LinkedIn, he came to the Austin factory from Tesla's Shanghai factory in January 2023 to start the Cybertruck project. After several years of delay, Tesla began delivering the electric pickup in November last year.
